Voice Recognition

The voice recognition team is seeking to connect users to their computers and the internet with only their voices. Using sophisticated voice recognition software developed by Nuance, users will be able to look up the current weather, dictionary definitions, play iTunes songs, and even turn on the lights in the house with simple voice commands. By eliminating the mouse/monitor interface between user and computer, time can be saved when looking up information on the internet or accessing the computer. The application will be located on a designated server, and users will be able to interact with it through a microphone located in the wall. Possible future expansions will include house-wide microphones integrated with the microphone array team. Another possibility is integrating with the RFID team so that the voice recognition software can tailor its algorithms to the nearest user.
