The Home Depot Smart Home Recycling Center
No product currently exists that can handle the sorting and compacting of the entire range of recyclable materials. Current manufacturers only make trash compactors and/or paper shredders, but none are all encompassing. As such, there is an opportunity to enhance the efficiency of the recycling process by creation of such a machine. The recycling station proposed for The Home Depot Smart Home is an early prototype suited to this purpose. One of the major reasons that people, and especially college students, don’t recycle is because of inconvenience. Students with active schedules need a nearby and conveniently accessible place to discard recyclable wastes or they simply will not have the time to recycle.
